It was another awesome year for Fam Jam in Prineville. We added two more to the group, PoPo (Dallas' grandpa) and Mindy (Dan's girlfriend) and I think they'll be back! Brian's efforts paid off getting the cabins and water sites, it's always a gamble as to what's available since it's so popular. The weather cooperated and was in the mid 80's, which was perfect... hot enough to play in the water and go skiing every morning, but cool enough in the evenings for sleeping and star gazing (which was a first for many out on the boat!) We were only able to get reservations for 3 nights this year, which actually felt like a really short trip compared to past years, but since we were in Bend the week before it worked out and we were ready to head home. One thing we discovered this year was how easy it is to head down to the swimming area instead of lugging all of our stuff down for the day. Who knew!? That's the nice about coming to the same place every year, we know what to expect and can make little changes to make even better than the last.

This deer came up to our campsite the first night we were there. Grammy thought it looked starved, so she threw some food out and it ended up coming right up to our table! The campers next to us fed it lettuce and got up close enough to pet the deer. I thought she would come around nightly, but apparently she found another source of food because we didn't see her for the rest of the time we were there. It was sure fun for the kids!

It felt awesome to do this every morning. What a great way to start the day!

Brian thought of the idea to "fish for chipmunks" since they are everywhere. He used a mantle filled with peanut butter and dog food and attached it to the kids fishing poles. Sure enough the first cast had a chipmunk interested. It was a riot to see them wrestle with it, then take off only to be pulled back on the line. At one point Brian had it hanging from the line. Eventually they broke through and were rewarded. td>
